Delete your Swipaw account
You can delete your account any time in the app: Settings → Privacy & data → Delete my account. Open Settings → Privacy & data
Draft — under legal review. The final version may change before launch.
Saying goodbye is hard, and Bantay will miss you 🐾 This page shows how to delete your Swipaw account and the data that comes with it, what we erase, what the law makes us keep, and how to come back if you change your mind. It covers the Swipaw app by Parada Technologies Inc. for iPhone and Android, and our website, swipaw.parada.ph.
In short: Delete anytime in Settings → Privacy & data → Delete my account, or with the form on this page if you can't sign in. You're signed out and hidden at once, with 14 days to change your mind (mag-sign in ka lang ulit). Then we erase your profile, pets, photos, listings, swipes and messages, keep only what the law needs, such as payment and tax records for 10 years, and e-mail you when it's done. Download your data and settle bookings and payouts first.
1. About this page#
- Swipaw is operated by Parada Technologies Inc. ("Swipaw", "we", "us"), which publishes the Swipaw apps on the App Store and Google Play and runs swipaw.parada.ph. This page explains how to have your Swipaw account and the personal data linked to it deleted, using your right to have personal data erased or blocked under section 16(e) of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
- It adds detail to the deletion and retention parts of our Privacy Notice (sections 7 and 8) and Terms of Service (clause 16.5); if this page and the Privacy Notice ever differ, the Privacy Notice governs. Headings and summaries are only a guide: the numbered clauses govern.
- Deleting your account is free. You never have to call us, chat with support or tell us why.
2. Before you delete — ayusin muna#
- Download your data. Once deletion starts you are signed out and can't download anything without restoring your account. In Settings → Privacy & data, tap Request my data and we e-mail a download link to the address on your account (add one in Settings → Account if you have none). The link works for 15 minutes after we send it, and you can ask for one export every 24 hours. The JSON file covers your profile, pets, requests, bookings, reviews, payments and receipts, swipes, matches, notifications, sessions and consents, and lists your chats and when you sent each message, without message text, other people's content or payout account numbers.
- Finish or cancel open bookings. Deleting your account does not cancel a confirmed booking or stop a refund, payout or dispute already under way. The other party can still complete, cancel or dispute it under our Payments, Held Payments & Refunds Policy, but you cannot confirm, cancel, review or dispute anything unless you restore your account.
- Wait for money owed to you. Refunds to your original payment method, and payouts already due, carry on during the grace period (the 14 days after you ask to delete, section 5). But a payout, or a refund that has to go by bank or e-wallet transfer, can only be sent to a payout account saved on your Swipaw account, and saved payout accounts are erased when your account is anonymised (stripped of everything that identifies you, section 6). If money is still on its way near the end of your grace period, restore your account, or write to [email protected] before the period ends so we can pause the deletion until it arrives.
- If you are a provider. Deleting your account removes your listings and ends your Service Provider Agreement. Honour or cancel your confirmed bookings under that Agreement first, and save copies of the commission invoices and BIR Form 2307 certificates we issued to you; we keep our copies with your tax records (section 7).
3. Delete your account in the app or on the web#
- iPhone and Android. In the Swipaw app, open your Profile tab and, under Settings, tap Privacy & data → Delete my account, then confirm.
- Web. Sign in at swipaw.parada.ph, open Settings → Privacy & data, choose Delete my account, type DELETE and confirm.
- Proof that it's you. So that no one else can delete your account, we ask for fresh proof: your authenticator code if you use two-factor sign-in; otherwise your password, a code sent to your verified mobile number, or a new sign-in with your linked Google, Facebook or Apple account. Telling us why you are leaving is optional. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
- What happens straight away. Your account is deactivated: you are signed out on every device, your profile, pets and listings disappear from Swipaw, your chats are paused, requests still waiting for an answer or for a reply to a counter-offer close, and any boost ends. If your account has an e-mail address, we e-mail you the date it will be deleted for good; the app and website show that date too. Nothing is erased yet.
4. Can't sign in? Use the form on this page#
- Ask with your e-mail or mobile number. Enter the e-mail address or mobile number on your Swipaw account and tap Send me a code. If it is the verified e-mail or number of an account, we send a 6-digit code there; it expires after 15 minutes. Enter it, with your authenticator code if your account uses two-factor sign-in, and tap Delete my account. Deletion then starts exactly as in clause 3.4, with the same grace period.
- Built for privacy. So the form can't reveal who is on Swipaw or delete someone else's account, it answers the same way whether or not an account uses what you typed, and it sends codes only to verified contacts, a few times a day at most.
- Hide My Email. If you joined with Sign in with Apple and hid your e-mail, your account's address is the private relay address Apple created for Swipaw, ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com. Enter that address.
- Lost that e-mail or number? Write to our Data Protection Officer (DPO) at [email protected] with your name and your Swipaw handle, or the e-mail or number the account used. We check that the account is yours, asking only for what we need and never for your password, and reply within 30 working days.
5. Changed your mind? Balik ka lang#
- Until the date we gave you, 14 days after your request, sign in the usual way (e-mail and password, a code to your mobile number, or Google, Facebook or Apple) and confirm that you want your account back; the Restore my account link in our e-mail works too. With two-factor sign-in on, we also ask for your authenticator code.
- Restoring brings back your profile, pets, listings, matches, chats, verification, payout accounts, Paw Points and settings, and we e-mail you to confirm. Requests that closed when you asked to delete, and any boost that ended, do not come back.
- An account that was suspended or banned when deletion was requested cannot be restored.
- After the grace period, deletion is final. You are welcome to sign up again with the same e-mail address or mobile number and start fresh, unless the old account was banned (section 7).
6. What we delete#
- When. Shortly after your grace period ends (our deletion job runs several times a day) we anonymise your account: we erase everything that identifies you, or replace it with codes that cannot be traced back to you, unless a legal hold applies (section 8). We anonymise an account at once, with no grace period, when we confirm it belongs to someone under 18.
- Your account. Your name becomes "Deleted user" and your handle a random code. We erase your e-mail address, mobile number, password, profile photo, bio, any birthdate you gave, saved location and address, linked Google, Facebook and Apple sign-ins, two-factor settings, payout accounts, push-notification tokens, sign-up answers, referral link, coming-soon alerts and Paw Points, and end every session.
- Pets and listings. Your pet profiles are removed with their photos, videos, vaccination records and pedigree files, and your listings with their photos and addresses.
- Swipes and matches. Your likes, passes, Super Paws and daily picks are deleted, and your matches end.
- Messages. Your chats close and every message you sent, photos included, becomes "message deleted" for everyone in the chat. Only basic details of each message (when it was sent and its type, never its content) stay in the chat's records, for 12 months after the chat closes. Messages others sent you stay in their chat history.
- Verification. A verification still under review is closed, and your ID, selfie and other verification files are deleted, except tax documents, which stay with your tax records. If you never had a paid booking or payout, your verification record goes too.
- Everything else. We delete your notifications, blocks, saved library articles, Paw Points history, streaks, boosts and referral invites. On the bookings and requests we must keep, we erase your request messages and offer notes, any emergency contact you named and your own address.
- Reviews. Reviews you wrote, with any photos you added, stay on the bookings and profiles they belong to, because other members rely on those ratings, but they show "Deleted user" instead of your name and photo. You can ask our DPO to remove personal data from a review you wrote (Reviews & Content Policy).
7. What we keep, and why#
- We keep only what the law requires or what we need to protect people and animals and to deal with legal claims (section 11 of the Data Privacy Act and section 19(d) of its Implementing Rules). These records no longer show your profile, are never used for marketing or to rebuild your account, and are securely deleted or anonymised when their period ends, unless a legal hold applies.
- What stays, why and for how long:
| What we keep | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| A sealed record of your name, e-mail, mobile number, handle, linked sign-in IDs and verification status, with your sessions, IP addresses, devices and account activity from the last 12 months and the metadata of your messages (never their text), encrypted and opened only through our legal-request process | Answering lawful requests from the authorities: the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (RA 10175) requires subscriber and traffic data to be preserved | 6 months, then destroyed |
| Payment, refund, payout, receipt, invoice and dispute records and the bookings and requests behind them, showing "Deleted user" and only the last four digits of payout accounts | Accounting and tax record-keeping under section 235 of the National Internal Revenue Code (RA 8424, as amended) and Revenue Regulations No. 17-2013; refunds, disputes and chargebacks | 10 years |
| Providers' tax records: tax profile and documents, withholding records and BIR Form 2307 | Withholding and reporting rules for online marketplaces (Revenue Regulations No. 16-2023) | 10 years |
| Your verification record without images: legal name, birthdate, ID type, last four characters of the ID, address and our decisions | Preventing fraud and dealing with legal claims | 5 years after your last paid booking or payout |
| Records of the documents and versions you accepted and of your consent choices | Proof of agreement and consent under the Electronic Commerce Act of 2000 (RA 8792) and the Data Privacy Act | 2 years after your account closes |
| Safety reports and moderation records involving you, with sealed copies of reported messages | Safety, appeals and legal claims | 2 years after resolution; attached evidence files for the shorter period in our Privacy Notice |
| Security logs, and our audit log of staff actions on your account such as verification decisions, payouts and refunds | Security and staff accountability | Security logs 12 months; audit log 5 years |
| Support tickets | Follow-ups and complaints | 2 years after closing |
| If your account was banned: one-way codes (hashes) of your e-mail and mobile number | Keeping the ban in force | 12 months |
| Statistics that no longer identify you, such as bookings per city | Running and improving Swipaw | No limit, as they are not personal data |
8. Legal holds#
- A legal hold pauses the deletion of the records it covers. We place one when records are needed for an open safety report or dispute, a preservation order or other lawful request from the authorities, or a complaint before the National Privacy Commission.
- A hold on your whole account keeps it deactivated, and we anonymise it only after the hold is lifted; a hold on particular records, such as a reported chat, keeps just those. Requests from the authorities follow our Law Enforcement & Legal Requests guidelines, and some holds must stay confidential by law.
9. Facebook, Apple and Google sign-in#
- Facebook. Deleting your Swipaw account also removes your Facebook link and what Facebook shared with us (your Facebook user ID, name, e-mail and profile-photo link). You can also start from Facebook: in your Facebook settings under Apps and websites, remove Swipaw and send a data deletion request. Facebook then tells us; we unlink Facebook and delete what we received from it, and if Facebook was your only way to sign in, we start deleting your Swipaw account with the usual grace period. Facebook shows you a confirmation code and a link to a Swipaw page where you can check the status of your request.
- Apple. When you delete an account that uses Sign in with Apple, we ask you to confirm with Apple and then ask Apple to revoke the access you gave Swipaw. You can also stop using Sign in with Apple with Swipaw yourself (on iPhone: Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple); Apple then tells us and we unlink it. That alone does not delete your Swipaw account, so if Apple is your only way to sign in, delete the account in the app first or use the form in section 4.
- Google. Deleting your account removes your Google link. To remove Swipaw from your Google Account as well, remove it from the third-party apps connected to that account.
- Unlink without deleting. To stop using one sign-in method but keep your account, unlink it in Settings → Security, as long as another way to sign in remains.
10. Service providers and payment partners#
- Our service providers (DigitalOcean for servers, Amazon Web Services for file storage, MongoDB Atlas for our database, Resend for e-mail, Semaphore and Twilio for SMS codes, and Expo for push notifications) handle your data only on our instructions. Files we keep with them, such as photos, are deleted in the steps in section 6, and we ask them to delete any other copies they hold for us unless the law requires them to keep them.
- Under Payment Protection, Xendit Philippines, Inc. ("Xendit") collects each booking payment into an account it keeps for the provider and holds it there until the service is done or the payment is refunded. Xendit, and the banks, e-wallets and card networks you paid through, keep their own records of your payments, and of a provider's Xendit account, under their own legal duties; deleting your Swipaw account does not delete those records, so ask them directly.
11. Confirmation, questions and complaints#
- Completion e-mail. Once your account is anonymised, we send a last e-mail to the address that was on it, confirming the deletion and listing what we removed and what we keep, and for how long. Accounts without an e-mail address do not get this message; the deletion date shown when you asked still applies.
- Questions and other requests. Write to our DPO at [email protected], for example to erase or block particular data without closing your account, to object to how we use it, or if something on this page did not work. We answer free of charge within 30 working days (Privacy Notice, section 8).
- Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handled your request, use our complaints page or complain to the National Privacy Commission (contact details in the Privacy Notice).
- Changes. We update this page whenever the deletion process changes; the version and date at the top show which text applies.
